In our initial three-year push, we hope to deaccession roughly 59,000 books and journals. That sounds like a lot, but it’s only about 2.9% of our collection. After that initial period, we will scale down to perform routine deaccessioning on the collection, which will amount to about 3,500 volumes per year (about 0.21% of the collection). We’ve determined that this should give us room to continue purchasing new materials at our current rate for years to come.
